The conservation goal on an oil painting is to enhance the aesthetic and historical value, thus the workings are based on the original materials of the artwork. The conservation works on an oil painting are: surface cleaning, varnish removal, securing the foundation and paint surface, canvas fixings and securing, aesthetic conservation and applying new varnish.
